(Denison) Iowa State Patrol Trooper and District #4 Information Officer Shelby McCreedy says the 100 deadliest days of summer start this Memorial Day Weekend.
Trooper McCreedy says this time frame runs from Memorial Day Weekend to Labor Day Weekend. The Iowa State Patrol encourages the public to buckle up, obey the speed limit, put down the cellphone, do not drive impaired, and avoid driving during high-peak travel times.
McCreedy says every crash, except for wildlife, occurs because someone made a choice.
As of Thursday, May 21, the Iowa Department of Transportation reports that 101 individuals have died on Iowa’s roadways, marking an 18.2-percent increase from the 83 fatalities recorded at the same time last year.
