(Des Moines) Iowa House District 21 Representative Tom Moore provided additional details on the Firearms Omnibus bill that passed the House on Wednesday.
Moore said the bill passed 60-37 after 4 ½ hours of debate. The bill will make the following changes to Iowa law….
Moore said this bill will prohibit landlords of state funded housing from prohibiting firearms. Private landlords would still be allowed to ban firearms in their buildings. This bill clarifies that political subdivisions (ie. cities, counties) cannot regulate the carry of firearms. And, this bill creates a Department of Public Safety database for qualified gun training organizations.
Moore also noted that HF 621: Firearms Manufacturing Immunity passed the House 60-37. This makes it law that firearms, firearms accessories, and ammunition manufacturers cannot be sued for how their legal products are used.
