(Des Moines) Governor Kim Reynolds announced at her press conference today that with the national vaccine supply projected to significantly increase in the next two weeks, all Iowans will be eligible for vaccinations starting on Monday, April 5th as long as the vaccine allocation increases as they’ve been told.
Reynolds said they received an update yesterday from the White House COVID-19 Response Team on upcoming vaccine allocations. She said Iowa will receive the same amount of vaccine next week as this week. Then, during the week of March 29th, the federal government is projecting a significant increase in weekly supply; potentially 20-million doses nationwide which could include 4 to 6 million doses of the Johnson & Johnson vaccine. Then, in April, weekly allocations could increase even more, exceeding 22-million doses across the country. Reynolds said she will have more information next week on the vaccine allocations after meeting with the White House COVID-19 Response Team.
Reynolds also noted that the CDC reported that 1.15 million doses of vaccine have been administered in Iowa which is 86% of all doses delivered to the state.
