(Ames) Harlan Community High School and Northwest Missouri State University graduate Anna Hastert is the new Director of Communications for the Iowa Cattlemen’s Association.
Anna Hastert graduated with a degree in Broadcast Communications. She worked for the student newspaper and the student and NPR Radio Stations. Following graduation, she went to work for The Iowa Agri-Business Radio Network, where she held the position for three-and-a-half years before becoming the new Director of Communications for the Iowa Cattlemen’s Association.
Anna grew up on a cow-calf operation just outside of Harlan, Iowa. “I knew a lot about the industry and learned more throughout my journalism career at the Iowa Agri-Business Network,” said Hastert. “My dad served as the Membership Coordinator for the Shelby County Cattlemen’s Board, and I got to know the board members as well as the local members throughout the year, so I felt like I fit right in with this job.”
Hastert is looking forward to meeting the members and advocating for Iowa’s beef industry, and advancing the priorities the Iowa Cattlemen’s Association set for the coming year. “I am excited to continue working with Iowa’s agricultural industry,” said Hastert. “If I was to accept a new job offer; I still wanted to stay within communications and work for the agricultural industry. I am passionate about agriculture, and the Iowa Cattlemen’s Association is going to be a good fit for me long-term.”
Hastert’s job includes sending out press releases to the media across Iowa, across the nation, social media, and sharing the Iowa Cattlemen’s message. “I would be happy to take calls at the office from cattle producers at (515) 296-2266, to learn more about you and listen to any concerns and what you are looking forward to in 2021.”
The Iowa Cattlemen’s Association main office is located in Ames.
