(Atlantic) Ryan Blum scored 30 points to lead Glenwood past Atlantic 56-41 at Atlantic on Friday night.
Blum knocked down three-three point shots and went 8-9 from the free-throw line. Dayton Templeton led the Trojans with 18 points, Skyler Handlos knocked down 17-points, and Ethan Williams added 6-points.
Atlantic rolled out to a 9-1 lead early in the first quarter. Templeton scored 8 first-quarter points to lead the Trojans’ offense. But, the shots started to fall for the Rams in the second quarter, and the big turning point came with 4:27 left in the frame when Jayme Fritts netted back-to-back three-point shots to give his squad a 19-17 lead, a narrow 25-24 lead at the break.
Glenwood switched to a zone defense when Ryan Blum and Silas Bales got into foul trouble, and Blum scored seven straight points to start the second half, and Glenwood began to pull away. The senior finished the quarter with 12 points and a 42-35 lead. The Rams slowed it down in the fourth quarter but outscored the Trojans 15-7 to seal the 56-41 win.
Besides Blums 30-points, Caden Johnson finished the night with 9-points, Jayme Fritts, 7, Logyn Eckheart, 6, Brock Sell, 4, and Tommy Johnson 3-points.
Atlantic falls to 1-1 on the season and travel to Clarinda on Tuesday, December 8. Glenwood starts the season with a 1-0 record and host Denison-Schleswig on Tuesday.
