(Glenwood, IA) — The Hawkeye Ten Conference Cross Country meet has been moved to Glenwood on Thursday afternoon with conditions at Nishna Hills Golf Course still wet.
Atlantic’s girls finished 6th at their own invitational last Thursday with Gabrielle Engler in 19th place. The boys finished 15th but Mason Betts was a solid third place. Trojans Head Coach Dan Vargason said after last week’s race that they have goals for this meet
In the boys race, Mason Betts is ranked #5 in Class 3A while Jeffrey Gross of Harlan is ranked 9th. Aiden Gaul of St. Albert will try to track down those two runners — he is ranked 6th in Class 1A. Vargason believes Betts has a great chance of winning a conference title
Harlan Head Coach Zach Klaassen says it is going to be a great race between Gross and Betts
Creston is #17 in Class 3A Boys team rankings and St. Albert is ranked #7 in Class 1A — those teams will be pushed by Atlantic, Denison Schleswig and Harlan in the team race.
On the girls side, Harlan will be the favorite and is ranked 17th in Class 3A with nobody else ranked.
Grace Berglund of Glenwood is ranked 5th in Class 3A individually — nobody else is ranked. Klaassen says that Julia Heslink and Ashlyn Rau will try to push Berglund but does not want to sacrifice the team title
The Varsity girls race is at 4:00 and the Varsity boys race at 4:30 at Glenwood Lake Park.
