At Least One Person Injured In Shooting On Interstate 35
(Des Moines, IA) — At least one person is injured after a shooting incident on Interstate 35 on Monday afternoon. Sergeant Alex Dinkla tells Local 5 News shots were fired around 3:45 p.m. near the Bevington exit. The injured person was taken to the hospital for treatment, and it is unclear whether anyone else was injured. Sergeant Dinkla says police took one person into custody and held them at the Warren County Sheriff’s Office, but it’s unclear whether any charges have been filed. An investigation is underway, and anyone with information is asked to call the Sheriff’s Office.
Police Policies, Procedures Denied In Ramsey Case
(Adel, IA) — Criminal investigation policies don’t have to be turned over to defense attorneys in the Kristin Ramsey murder case. Ramsey is accused of shooting and killing realtor Ashley Okland during a 2011 open house. Her attorneys argued the state had to turn over police procedures, policies, and training documents. The judge denied the motion, saying the state has not indicated it will use those items as evidence at trial. Ramsey’s trial is scheduled in July of 2027.
Teen Arrested After Theft At Drake Football Locker Room
(Des Moines, IA) — An 18-year-old is in custody after multiple items were stolen from the Drake University football locker room during Saturday night’s game. Des Moines Police say eight players had items stolen, including wallets, bank cards, headphones, and IDs. Investigators say the players tracked some of the stolen property to a home in the 14-hundred block of 34th Street. Police arrested Jeziah Calhoun after serving a search warrant there. Authorities say they recovered and returned much of the stolen property.
$6.14M Lotto America Ticket Sold In Des Moines
(Des Moines, IA) — A more than six-million-dollar Lotto America ticket was sold in Des Moines. The Iowa Lottery says the jackpot winner was drawn Saturday and sold at the QuickTrip on 63rd Street. The winner can spread payments over 30 years or take a lump sum of $2.5 million.
