Carline Corrine Guyer, the daughter of Carl and Corrine (Fleming) Horst, was born May 4, 1942, in Council Bluffs, Iowa. Carline died September 13, 2026, at her home in Hancock, IA, at the age of 84 years, 4 months, and 9 days.
Carline attended school in Avoca, graduating with the class of 1960. She worked at the Avoca Care Center and then attended Jennie Edmundson Nursing School, graduating in 1963. After graduation, Carline became the school nurse at Avoca. On February 17, 1973, she was united in marriage to Les Guyer in Hancock. She began working for Jennie Edmundson Hospital. Carline retired after over 30 years of service. Carline continued to live at her home in Hancock until the time of her death.
Carline was a member of the Hancock United Methodist Church. She enjoyed fishing, playing Cribbage and Bunko, traveling, and bird watching. Carline was famous for her homemade popcorn balls and liked to shop at Blossom’s in Oakland. She especially loved spending time with her family.
Carline is preceded in death by her husband Les on March 21, 2018; her parents; and two brothers, Carlie and Kenny.
She is survived by her children: Corrine Sindt of Atlantic, IA, Julie Walter and husband Brian of Council Bluffs, IA, Rhonda Cash and husband Mike of Dakota Dunes, SD, Jennifer Holtz and Matt Bowen of Carson, IA, Vince Guyer and wife Andi of Hancock, IA, and Bob Guyer and wife Jill of East Granby, CT; nine grandchildren; three great grandchildren; three step grandchildren; two step great grandchildren; and her beloved dog Max.
A funeral service will be held on Sunday, September 20, 2026, at 2:00 PM, at the Oakland United Methodist Church. Visitation with the family will follow the funeral service until 5:00 PM. Interment will be at the Oak Hill Cemetery, east of Hancock, on Monday, September 21, 2026, at 10:00 AM. Rieken Vieth Funeral Home in Oakland is assisting the family.
