(Coon Rapids, IA) — Coon Rapids Bayard lost their opening football game of the season in a 56-52 shoot out against Kingsley Pierson. The Crusaders were outscored 32-8 in the 2nd quarter, trailed 32-16 at the half and could not rally.
CRB put up 282 yards rushing in the game but had three fumbles. On defense, the Panthers had nearly 450 yards of total offense which was equal between running and throwing. Head Coach Nathan Lindsay says the defense has to play better
On offense, Sophomore Andrew McAlister had 7 carries for 108 yards and 1 TD; Senior Caden Oswald had 11 carries for 113 yards and 3 TD. Lindsay says they just need to hold on to the pigskin
In the air, Sophomore QB Tucker Lewis was just 4 of 10 for 67 yards and 1 TD and Lindsay says the passing game is still a work in progress
Coon Rapids Bayard will try to even their record this week as they host Twin Cedars.
