(Avoca, IA) — AHSTW Volleyball will have a new Head Coach this year — Harlan Grad and former Missouri Valley Head Coach Josie Jacobsen takes over the Lady Vikes and hopes to improve on a 8-27 record from a year ago. The squad lost two seniors but no starters and Jacobsen is excited to work with a group of players that have a lot of experience. There are five seniors — Addie Carroll, Bella Lamp, Macey Goshorn, Maeleigh Rold, and Kendra Hansen — that will all be starters this year says Jacobsen
Carroll led the team in kills last year with 199 while Junior Kennedy Wyman had 141 and Jacobsen says they compliment each other really well. Madison Holst is another Senior who is coming off an injury that will be a contributor. Jacobsen also has options on the back row
Jacobsen says she has used practice to bond with the girls and grind the fundamentals and make sure they are mentally strong
AHSTW opens the volleyball season by hosting their own tournament on Saturday, August 29 with Atlantic, Earlham, East Mills, MVAOCOU, and Riverside.
