(Audubon, IA) — Today is the first full day of Fall Practice for cross country, volleyball, girls swimming and football. Audubon’s football team will begin its quest to go back to the Dome with their first practice. Head Coach Sean Birks says the summer was a productive one
Going into practice, Audubon is set at a lot of different positions. Junior QB Aiden Kjergaard and Junior RB Mason Kasperbauer both return to lead the offense. Birks says there are a few spots on defense that need to be sorted out especially the defensive line and linebacker positions
Last year, Audubon was not on many so called experts radar screen — the Wheelers were not in pre season rankings and the kids fed off that with something to prove and got all the way to the 8 Man semifinals. This year Birks says the desire to go even further will fuel them
Birks says it was a long process to find an 8th game on the schedule when Exira EHK dropped out but Audubon added Lenox for Week 8. The Wheelers stay in District 9 with Ar-We-Va, CAM, Coon Rapids Bayard, Glidden Ralston and Griswold.
Audubon opens their season on Friday, August 28 at Remsen St. Mary’s
