(Atlantic) The Atlantic football team officially begins preseason workouts today as the Trojans prepare for the 2026 season.
Atlantic is coming off a successful 2025 campaign that saw the Trojans finish runner-up in Class 3A District 6 and qualify for the playoffs.
Head Coach Joe Brummer expects around 70 players, from freshmen through seniors, to take part in preseason workouts. Brummer says this year’s team is young and compares the squad to the movie We Are Marshall, and the movie quote the Young Thundering Herd.
The Trojans began their three-day preseason camp Wednesday with installation work and conditioning. The week wrapped up Friday at Creston, where Atlantic participated in 90-percent live scrimmages against Creston, West Marshall and Kuemper Catholic.
Several positions remain open as the Trojans look to replace quarterback Zayden Parker. Parker threw for 770 yards and six touchdowns last season.
Brummer has identified each of these prospects as bringing a different skill set to the offense.
Senior running back Ethan McNeal returns to lead the backfield. McNeal was an All-District and All-State selection last season.

Atlantic opens the 2026 season on the road at Glenwood on August 28.
