(Guthrie Center, IA) — AC/GC Baseball stayed at the same level as the previous season with a 10-15 season. However, they did play some good baseball late in 2026 beating a good Van Meter team, getting a victory over IKM Manning in the first round of the playoffs and giving Coon Rapids Bayard all they could handle in a 5-1 in the District semifinals.
Head Coach Nick McCool used 11 different pitchers during the season including all three seniors. One pitcher who emerged was Freshman Cal Clark who made 5 starts, 8 overall appearances and had a 4.48 ERA. McCool says that was big after he was hurt last year
Pitching wise Cal’s brother Colton Clark is a Junior; Freshman Caleb Dominquez is a guy McCool will use more; Freshman Joe Fagan broke his thumb late in the season but will see more time. McColl says he has a lot of options on the bump.
Overall Colton Clark will be the club’s only Senior next year and McCool says that is not a bad thing
Offensively, Freshman Will Skram hit .368, Fagan .296, Freshman Bryce Benda has potential with the bat and on the mound. McCool says they have back to back double digit wins for the first time since 2017 and he wants to build on that
The three seniors for AC/GC are Blaize Dorsey, Tommy Skram and Chase Slaybaugh.
