(Griswold, IA) — Griswold’s baseball team ended their regular season last night with a loss to Southwest Valley and finished 8-14. Now, the Tigers get one night off and play Ar-We-Va on Friday in Woodbine on Friday. Head Coach Ryan Lockwood still has not decided his starting pitcher against the Rockets but is leaning towards one of his seniors — Nollan Smith has a 1.75 ERA but has only started two games; Kolbe Klindt has a 5.40 ERA with 4 starts on the season; Calden Turner is at 5.69 with 2 starts but Brayden Lockwood might get the call says Dad and Coach Lockwood even with a 10.10 ERA
Offensively, Griswold is a station to station baseball team — they do not have much power so Lockwood says they just try to get runners on base and move ’em around. However, the other night Junior Callen Keiser got the Tigers first homer of the season although it did not go over the fence
On Friday, Griswold will play Ar-We-Va who is 5-8 on the season in the first round of Class 1A Substate 1. The Rockets are led by Senior Wyatt Ragaller who is hitting .415 with 2 HR but only 6 RBI — he is also the probable starter with 1.36 ERA. Lockwood says they cannot let Ragaller burn his team
After Griswold plays Ar-We-Va, Woodbine will host West Monona in the night cap.
