(Atlantic) During Wednesday’s Atlantic City Council meeting, Mayor Rob Clausen highlighted the success of the city’s recent Community-Wide Cleanup, recognized a group of preschoolers for helping beautify the community, and congratulated the Atlantic High School softball team on its undefeated Hawkeye Ten Conference championship season.
Clausen called the annual cleanup a success.
The mayor reported that residents filled 30 dumpster loads during the cleanup, removing 83,440 pounds of debris from the community. He added that the city incurred just $246 in additional disposal costs for prohibited items.
Clausen also noted that approximately 10 loads of scrap metal were hauled to Fredricksen Iron Recycling on Sunnyside Lane.
In addition to recognizing the community’s cleanup efforts, Clausen praised a group of local preschoolers for doing their part to help keep Atlantic clean. He said their hard work and the lessons they learned about taking pride in their community earned them a special reward.
The mayor concluded his report by congratulating the Atlantic High School softball team for capturing the Hawkeye Ten Conference championship with a perfect 20-0 conference record. He wished the Trojans the best as they start postseason play next week in pursuit of a trip to the state softball tournament.
