(Atlantic) The Atlantic Community School District is offering grief counseling services following the death of 2026 Atlantic High School graduate Lucy Marie Cohrs.
Lucy Cohrs passed away following an accident in Adair County Saturday evening.
In a message to families and the community, district officials said they are “deeply saddened” by Cohrs’ passing and extended their thoughts to her family, friends, classmates, and everyone impacted by the loss.
To support students, staff, and community members, grief counseling will be available Tuesday, June 30, in the Atlantic High School Media Center from 10 a.m. until noon.
The district also sent information to families through its school communication system, providing additional resources and guidance on helping young people cope with grief. School officials are encouraging families to review that information.
District leaders said times like these serve as a reminder of the importance of caring for one another with compassion, kindness, and understanding, and they asked the community to continue keeping Cohrs’ family and all those affected in their thoughts in the days ahead.
