(Red Oak, IA) — Montgomery County Auditor Jill Ozuna is seeking some help in her office and while they decide whether to add a part time position, they must digest the results of a state wide audit that Ozuna released at Tuesday’s meeting.
Ozuna revealed there are some problems that are county wide that were revealed in the state audit from FY2025.
— Material amounts of capital assets were not properly recorded in the county’s financial statements
— Monthly reconciliations of book to bank balances were not properly executed in January 2025
— Current delinquent property tax reconciliations
— Reconciliations of billings, collections and delinquent accounts and write offs were not prepared in the public health department
— County wide disaster recovery plan is out of date
— Unsupported expenditures with a lack of supporting documents
— No procedures for independent observation of capital assets
— The supervisors by resolution adopted a property tax in excess of the estimated published and a budget amendment should have been adopted
Ozuna says there are clearly some problems that need to be fixed
