(Aurelia, IA) — Multiple fire departments helped put out a silo fire in rural Aurelia on Friday night.
The Aurelia Fire Department was dispatched around 8:30 p.m. with reports of cornstalk bales on fire. The fire was found in a grain harvester, with flames threatening nearby property and livestock. Gusty winds caused the fire to spread, and crews had to cut into the silo to reach a portion of it.
No injuries were reported, and the cause has not been released. The Aurelia Fire Department thanked the Cherokee, Meriden, Cleghorn, and Alta Fire Departments for their quick response and assistance.
