(Stuart) The Stuart Police Department has identified two juvenile females in connection with a series of vandalism incidents that occurred throughout the community late Tuesday night.
According to the department, many residents may have seen a social media post from the Stuart Aquatic Center regarding graffiti damage to several walls and signs at the facility. Police said the aquatic center was just one of many locations targeted.
Authorities reported that blue spray paint was used to vandalize property across Stuart, including stop signs, real estate signs, mailboxes, vehicles, buildings, and portions of roadways.
Police said the vandalism has had a significant impact on the community, noting that some property owners may not have the financial means to easily repair or replace damaged items.
The Stuart Police Department began investigating the incidents Wednesday morning and identified two juvenile females as suspects later that afternoon. Following interviews, both juveniles admitted their involvement in the vandalism, according to police.
The juveniles will be referred to juvenile court on charges of Criminal Mischief.
Anyone who discovers additional property damage that has not yet been reported is encouraged to contact the Stuart Police Department at 515-523-1896.
