(Red Oak) Montgomery County Auditor Jill Ozuna presented the 2026 Primary Election Canvass to the Board of Supervisors on Tuesday Morning. Ozuna stated it is statutorily required that board supervisors certify the canvass of elections.
Ozuna says 17.1 percent of the county population turned out for the Primary Election. Ozuna says this was far better than the last turnout of 6.7 percent.
Ozuna says there were 6,492 registered voters with one provisional ballot; however, no provisional ballot was counted.
Locally, Charla Schmid was unopposed in the Republican Primary for District #1 supervisor, and she received 88 votes. Mike Olson ran unopposed in the Primary for the County Supervisor District #2. The incumbent received 115 votes. In District #4, Dewayne Adams defeated George Bruce, 132-88. Jackie Porter, County Treasurer, Carleen Bruning, County Recorder, and County Attorney, Drew B. Swanson, were all unopposed in the Republican Primary.
Jan Norris was the only candidate running in the Democratic Primary. Norris was unopposed in District #4. Norris and Dewayne Adams will face off in the General Election in November.
