(Guthrie Center, IA) — The Guthrie County Supervisors approved the June Primary Election results and appointed a full time County Attorney at Tuesday’s regular meeting.
Guthrie County Auditor Dani Fink reported that 1,693 people voted in the county in the June 2nd primary on election day — 410 absentee ballots were accepted for a total of 2,103 ballots. Fink says turnout for Republicans was high — there were no Democrats on the ballot. Fink says there was a high number of voters who came to the courthouse on the day before
The winner of the County Attorney race in the Republican primary was the current assistant Charles Abel and he will run unopposed in the November election. The supervisors voted 5-0 to appoint Abel as the interim county attorney to fill the vacancy created by the resignation of Dana Minteer.
In other Guthrie County business, the supervisors accepted the bid of Murphy Heavy Contracting for a bridge replacement project and adopted Resolution 26-36 to accept a bid and award a contract to Jenco Construction for a RCB culvert replacement project.
The supervisors also decided to leave the courthouse open on July 20 when RAGBRAI comes to town and they approved the use of the courthouse as a shelter in case of inclement weather.
