(Red Oak) The severe weather that rolled through Red Oak this past weekend has attracted construction crews from outside the area looking for work. City Administrator Lisa Kotter says these contractors need a “Peddlers Permit” before they can do any work.
Kotter says the city asks for proof that the company is authorized by the Secretary of State to do business in town, is a registered contractor in the State of Iowa, and provides identification. Kotter says the names of eligible companies will be posted on the City’s Facebook page and website. Each person involved with the contractor should have that documentation with them.
Prospective contractors must apply at City Hall, complete a “Peddlers” application, and provide proof of insurance and Iowa licensure. A six-month permit fee of $250.00, and five dollars extra for each person on the permit.
