(Coon Rapids, IA) — Griswold will try to break a three game losing streak at Coon Rapids Bayard this Friday who has a three game winning streak.
Last week, the Crusaders thumped Boyer Valley 40-7 led by Caden Oswald and Andrew McAlister who both went over 100 yards rushing. Oswald is the senior had 17 carries for 186 yards and 3 TD while McAlister the sophomore added 13 carries for 108 yards. Head Coach Nathan Lindsay is glad this dynamic duo continues to dominate
CRB had a shutout going until giving up a TD late in the game against the Bulldogs. The defense was led by Sophomore DE Griffin Mohr who had 5 QB Sacks. Lindsay says he has the potential to make a play on every play
Lindsay says they are playing a Griswold team that is playing better than last year and has the potential to play better than they are this year
Griswold is coming off a 53-30 loss to Glidden Ralston — Junior QB Dain Laverty had 19 carries for 135 yards and was 11 of 28 passing for 177 yards, 3 TD but 2 INT. Head Coach Seth Lembke has no problems in the running game but in the passing game, he would like Laverty to stop throwing it deep so much and look for his secondary option
Lembke says the defense played better last week and is confident about stopping the run up the gut but he says they have to try and seal the outside better
Lembke says Coon Rapids Bayard presents many problems and are very athletic
