(Atlantic, IA) — The Atlantic Boys Golf team kept their winning ways going as they defended the Atlantic Golf & Country Club with an 11 stroke win over Knoxville to win the Trojan Invite. The Trojans had a team score of 289 with the Panthers 2nd with a 300. ADM was 3rd with a 302; Shenandoah 4th with a 311; and Kuemper Catholic rounded out the top five with a 312.
Keith Thompson of Hamburg got three birdies in a row on the tough back nine to rally for an even par 69 and a two stroke victory. Thompson birdied 14, 15, and the 2nd toughest hole on the course 16. He added birdies on holes 7 and 9 with a 35 and 34.
Hudson McLaren of Atlantic finished in a tie for 2nd place with Shadd Livingston of ADM but McLaren got Runner Up honors on a tiebreaker. McLaren had three birdies on the front nine on holes 3, 8 and 9 — he did have four bogeys on the back nine but finished with a (+2) 71.
Brady Wood of Atlantic finished in 4th place with a (+3) 72 — Wood started on hole 9 and bogeyed 12 and 13 but birdied 17. On the front, he double bogeyed #3 and bogeyed #6 but got a birdie on #8 and had a steady 11 pars.
Also for the Trojans, Sam Brosam was 7th with a 73; Gage Gross 8th with a 73; Jack Muller 34th with a 80; Braxton Hass 52nd with an 86; and Craven Wiersma 54th with an 87.
Ethan Laughlin of Shenandoah was 5th with a 72; Jac Fine of Clarinda 6th with a 73; two Knoxville golfers rounded out the top ten with Grant Gerdes in 9th (74) and Brady Roozeboom 10th (74).
Low round for Glenwood was Evan Stanislav in 19th with a 77; for Kuemper Catholic Jack Lenz was 12th with a 75; for Harlan, Owen Neve was 41st with an 82. Weston Crouse of Red Oak finished 23rd with a 78.
