(Griswold, IA) — The leader of the Griswold girls track and field team is Carsyn Adams and she is working hard at reducing her times this season.
Adams is a Junior who competes largely in the 100 Hurdles, 400 Hurdles, open 400 and part of the Shuttle Hurdle Relay. The Shuttle team ranks 5th in the state in Class 1A — they were able to drop 5 seconds on their time last week and Adams says its a process
In the individual events, Adams ranks 19th in Class 1A in the 100 Hurdles; tied for 25th in the 400 Hurdles; and 25th in the open 400 — she won three medals last year at state with the shuttle in 3rd, and Adams won 8th place in the 100 Hurdles and 400 Hurdles. In the hurdle events, she says there is not much difference between running the 100 and the Shuttle and she is working hard to reduce her number of steps in between hurdles to three which will reduce time. She wants to go lower in all of her events
Last year she ran with her sister Addison in many of the same events but his year Carsyn is chasing some of her sister’s records mainly in the 400 Hurdles — she says that is the toughest event she competes in
Adams says it has been a challenge this year with several meets cancelled because of the weather but Griswold will have a busy week this week — they have rescheduled their Griswold/Stanton Relays for Tuesday and will run in Corning Thursday at the Southwest Valley Relays.
