(Guthrie Center, IA) — The town of Bagley, Iowa in northern Guthrie County is working towards demolishing old and worn down houses but needs financial assistance from the county. At Tuesday’s Supervisors meeting, County Health Services Director Jotham Arber reported that Bagley had reached out to him about the waste removal of the homes once they are destroyed and trying to meet the county’s cost of doing such. Arber told the supervisors they should consider to help lessening the financial burden on the town
Supervisor Brian Johnson agreed with Arber that some assistance to Bagley from the county on the project is needed
Arber says typically his department does not get involved in local jurisdictions unless they are asked and the town of Bagley asked. Arber inspected the homes to be demolished and he says they are not livable in their current state. The supervisors asked Arber to develop a proposal that will be considered at a future meeting.
