(Atlantic) The Atlantic City Council reviewed and approved the sale of the city-owned property at 411 Birch Street.
The vacant lot assessed at $5,760 has received a bid from Paul and Kristi Wegner, from Harlan, who will purchase the lot for $1. Atlantic City Administrator John Lund says as part of their proposal, the Wegners plan to construct a $300,000, four-bedroom home on the site for their son and his roommates. Their bid also includes removing trees on the property.
Atlantic Mayor Rob Clausen…
John Lund says under the City’s land disposal policy, properties may be sold for less than their assessed value if the project adds at least $100,000 in new value. He stated the Wegners’ proposal meets that requirement.
No other bids have been submitted for the property. City policy requires the proposal to be presented to the City Council, which may either reject the offer or accept it and direct the City Administrator to work with the City Attorney to prepare the necessary transfer documents.
