(Red Oak) The Montgomery County Board of Supervisors approved the fiscal year 2027 budget following a public hearing on Tuesday morning, during which no public comments were made.
Montgomery County Auditor Ozuna reported that the urban tax rate is $8.07883 per $1,000 of taxable valuation, while the rural tax rate is $12.30138 per $1,000.
The compensation board recommended salary adjustments for elected officials. The County Auditor’s salary of $80,397 would increase by 3 percent to $82,809. The Recorder’s salary of $75,340 would increase by 6 percent to $79,860. The Sheriff’s salary of $123,098 would increase by 6.25 percent to $130,792. The Supervisors’ salary of $32,793 would increase by up to 3 percent to $33,725, but the supervisors declined any increase. The Sheriff’s stipend would remain at $1,500. The Treasurer’s salary of $75,340 would increase by 6 percent to $79,860.
The supervisors ultimately approved the following salary adjustments effective July 1, 2026: Auditor, $83,412 (3.75 percent increase); County Attorney, $123,293 (10 percent increase); Recorder, $78,165 (3.75 percent increase); Sheriff, $130,792 (6.25 percent increase); Treasurer, $78,165 (3.75 percent increase); Sheriff’s stipend, $1,500; supervisors, $32,743.00 (0-percent increase.
At the end of the meeting, Auditor Jill Ozuna brought the supervisors up to date on the elevator project.
