(Red Oak, IA) No one was hurt in a two-vehicle accident in Red Oak.
Red Oak Police report the accident happened on Saturday morning at around 9:15 in the 500 block of North 3rd Street. A 2013 GMC Yukon driven by 29-year-old Kaiyla Aldrich and a 2012 Nissan Titan pickup driven by 27-year-old Michael Hamilton, both of Red Oak, were heading south on North 3rd Street at the time. Authorities say Aldrich stopped to allow another vehicle to back out of a parking space. Hamilton reportedly failed to notice the stopped SUV and collided with the rear of the Yukon.
Hamilton was cited for failing to stop within an assured clear distance. Following the investigation, both vehicles were driven from the scene. Police estimated the total damage to both vehicles at $6,000.
