(Creston) Three players scored in double figures to power Creston to a commanding 76-40 victory over Atlantic on Monday night at Creston. The Panthers lit up the scoreboard with nine three-pointers during the contest.
Jake Hoyt exceeded his season average of 19 points per game with a standout performance, finishing with 24 points. Rhett Driskell drained four three-pointers on his way to 17 points, while Cael Barton provided a spark off the bench, adding 12. Additional contributions came from Parker Varner and Tommy Sand with seven points each, Brayden Schoon with six, and Josh Schaefer with two.
For Atlantic, Gavin McLaren led the Trojans with 11 points. Grant Petty added eight, while Reid Woodward contributed six. Hudson McLaren, Kinnick Juhl, Hunter Nelson, and Sawyer Tarrell each tallied three points, Shelton Mualia scored two, and Gage Gross chipped in one.
The Panthers got off to a blazing start, with Rhett Driskel opening the game with a three-pointer on Creston’s first possession. Creston dominated the first quarter, outscoring Atlantic 23-10. Despite the Trojans trimming the deficit to 26-17 in the second quarter, Creston responded with a decisive 12-2 run to end the half, extending their lead to 38-19 at the break.
The third quarter mirrored the Panthers’ strong start, as they opened with a 7-0 run and stretched their advantage to 45-19. By the end of the period, Creston had pushed the margin to 64-30. The Panthers’ sharpshooting continued into the final frame, where five three-pointers in the second half secured their 76-40 victory.
Creston’s balanced scoring and three-point barrage proved too much for the Trojans, as the Panthers improved their record to 7-7 on the season. Atlantic falls to 2-12.
The Panthers travel to Glenwood on Tuesday. The Trojans host St. Albert on Friday, and Perry on Saturday.
