(Guthrie Center, IA) — The Iowa High School softball playoffs begin tonight and Treynor visits AC/GC in a first round Region Four match-up, coverage on KSOM.
AC/GC is 5-22 and finished the regular season with a 12-2 win over Coon Rapids Bayard. Senior Caydence Boals leads the hitting at .400 with 20 RBIs; Freshman Kailee Kautky is batting .390 with 18 RBI; Freshman Jerzee Huss is at .351 with 1 HR and 13 RBI. Kautzky, meanwhile, has struck out just four times this season and has more extra base hits than singles — 14 doubles, 14 singles, and 2 triples.
Pitching wise, Merical will not tip his hand on which girl he is going to start — Huss has a 5.56 ERA in 84 plus innings and Sophomore Megan Underwood has a 5.68 ERA in 69 innings pitched.
Treynor is 2-18 and pitching has been an issue — 8th grader Zoey Carlson has gotten the majority of the work and in 68 plus innings has an ERA of 9.79. Senior Elyse Winchell leads the offense, batting .312 with 3 HR and 13 RBI. Treynor lost their first 15 games before getting win number one against Underwood. Merical says they are still a dangerous team
