Lavina “Diane” Mae Clipperton, the daughter of Ralph and Theo (Orin) Imler, was born on May 31, 1926 in Jefferson, Iowa. She came from a very large family, growing up with four brothers and seven sisters. Diane’s early years were marked by her strong work ethic and nurturing spirit. She received her education at the Jefferson Community School up to the 10th grade and later went on to establish herself as a compassionate caregiver in the healthcare field at the Bayard Care Center and Public Health.
She met the love of her life, Dean Clipperton at the skating rink in Jefferson and on April 4, 1943, the couple got married in Junction City, Kansas, which marked the beginning of a beautiful journey together. After Dean’s tour of duty, they settled in Bayard, Iowa. From their union, nine children were born: Karen, Gary, Larry, Elaine, Jerri, Patricia, Debbie, Randy, and Cindy.
During her lifetime, she found joy in the simple yet beautiful moments that life had to offer. In earlier years, Diane and Dean shared a passion for dancing, working in their yard, and curating a collection of rocks. Fondly remembered for her love of family and faith, Diane was baptized at the United Church of Christ and remained a steadfast member throughout her life. She was also a dedicated member of the Bagley Rebecca Lodge and a passionate volunteer who consistently extended a helping hand to those in need.
In her leisure time, she had a passion for beautiful flowers, sewing, working on puzzles, and reading. Diane’s proudest accomplishments were rooted in the nurturing relationships she cultivated, particularly with her grandchildren. She found immense joy in spending time with them, imparting her passion for crafts, cooking delicious meals, and offering a listening ear whenever they sought comfort. Her legacy of love and support will continue to resonate within her family for generations to come.
