(Audubon, IA) — After the greatest softball season in school history, what does the future look like for the Audubon Wheelers?
In the coming weeks, the Wheeler players will be honored with All-State mentions. Six Senior starters will make their goodbyes which will leave huge voids in the field. So what’s next?
Audubon will look to two freshmen to lead the team in the coming years — Riley Miller and Taryn Petersen were both named to the 2A All Tournament team and both will look to lead the team in the future. Petersen solidified the shortstop position for Audubon while Miller emerged as one of the best pitchers in the state. Miller says she needs to develop an off speed pitch to compliment her riser but hopes another trip to Ft. Dodge is in her future.
Audubon Senior Jordan Porsch says that the 6 Wheeler Seniors (Porsch, Gemini Goodwin, Addie Hocker, Mattie Nielsen, Alexis Obermeier and Michelle Brooks) has set the bar and its up to future generations to match it or exceed it
Audubon Head Coach Andrea Schwery knows her team will be on the young side next season
Audubon finished 29-5 in 2024.
