(Carroll) Underwood is heading to the Class 2A State Baseball title game after edging Chariton 8-7 in the Class 2A semifinals, and they had to come from behind to do it.
Mason Boothby picked up the win on the mound for Underwood. Boothby struck out five batters, walked three, and allowed two runs on five hits.
Chariton plated five runs in the top of the first inning; however, Underwood chipped away at the lead with two runs in the third inning, five in the fifth, and the eventual game-winning run in the bottom of the sixth to secure the 8-7 victory.
Underwood scored eight runs on ten hits. Garrett Luett led the Eagles with a perfect four for four at the plate, including a double. Bootby was 2-3 with a double, and Ryker Adair drilled a pair of hits.
