Corinne Ann Tomihiro (Corinne Ann Sellers) died on July, 21, 2024 at the age of 84.
She was born on December 28, 1939 to Bo and Helen Sellers. She was the eldest of eight children. Deaf most of her life, Corinne never let her hearing impairment get in her way. She grew up in Harlan, Iowa and graduated from Marycrest College. She met and married her husband Walter Tomihiro in September 1966. They were married for 54 years. She supported him through his military career in the Army and did a lot of traveling- Kansas, Panama, and South Carolina in addition to raising two children, Bob and Jolene. When the kids were in high school she worked at the Department of Motor Vehicles in SC. She enjoyed all the friends she made there. Corinne was a devout Catholic all her life, believing strongly that “Faith without works is dead.” Whether it was pies for bake sales, taking meals to the homebound, or giving rides, Corinne was generous with her time and money to those in need. She was an active member of the Society of Saint Vincent de Paul. She was awarded Catholic Woman of the Year in 2001 for her Diocese in South Carolina for all her charity work. She was an avid reader and known for making desserts and sending rum cakes all over the country for birthdays and special events.
Corinne was preceded in death by her husband Walter Tomihiro. She is survived by her children, Bob (Lisa)Tomihiro of Winston-Salem, NC and Jolene Tomihiro of Shoreview, MN, and her grandchildren Ally, Connor, Garrett, and Ian. She is also survived by her sisters, LaVonne and Anita, and her brothers Tom, Tim, Mike and Jerry.The funeral mass for Corinne will be held on Saturday, July 27th, 2024, at 10:30 AM at St. Michael’s Catholic Church in Harlan, Iowa.
Visitation will be an hour prior to the funeral. The Pauley Jones Funeral Home in Harlan is in charge of the professional arrangements.
