(Anita, IA) – The CAM Cougars had quite a great offensive performance in their first game of the season against the East Mills Wolverines where they were able to win 13-12. CAM only had two strikeouts at the plate while giving up 11 earned runs and pitched a total of 12 strikeouts. The Cougars are hitting the ball well and are performing up to the early-season expectations of Head Coach Drew Ticknor.
A few players who have already stood out for CAM are Jack Follman, Keegan Croghan, and Kayden Winther. Follman had two hits and drew three walks while both Croghan and Winter knocked in two RBIs each for the Cougars. The bats are already rolling for CAM to start the season which means only greater things are yet to come.
On the mound, both Brody and Makade Paulsen featured solid performances to start the season along with Lukas James who came in to help close things out in their first game of the season. We can also expect to see Brayden Chester, Carson McKee, and Kayden Winther on the rubber throughout this week as they’ll look to go above and beyond their expectations. Only time will tell throughout this season who will be the primary ace for the Cougars.
The Cougars have four straight baseball games this week with the first on Tuesday against Logan-Magnolia. They’ll also take on Glidden-Ralston on Wednesday, Stanton on Thursday, and Ar-We-Va this coming Friday. This may look like a tough stretch of games, but the Cougars are just warming up for what’s ahead later this season.
CAM will host Glidden-Ralston on Wednesday, with the first pitch at 7:30 p.m. KSOM 96.5, and Western Iowa Today TV will have the broadcast of that game with a pregame show starting at 7:10 p.m.
