(Stanton) A fire earlier this week caused significant damage to a rural Stanton residence.
Stanton Fire Chief Brayton Allen tells KSOM/KS95 News that the call went out just before 10:00 a.m. on Monday for an attached garage fire on N Avenue, southwest of Stanton, with smoke and flames showing. The reporting caller had pulled into the driveway, saw the fire, and called 9-1-1. Automatic mutual aid from Red Oak and Villisca also responded.
Chief Allen says they dispatched the Elliott, Grant, Essex, and Clarinda Fire Departments for additional water and workforce due to the wind and the fire’s size.
Chief Allen says around 50-60 personnel assisted at the scene, along with over 20 apparatus trucks, and two ambulances for rehab and water support.
