(Des Moines, IA) – Drake men’s basketball is already seeing a complete overhaul of last year’s program with a new coaching staff and multiple new players. Former Drake Bulldog Ethan Roberts has officially transferred to play at Penn for the 2024-25 season.
Despite never playing this previous season for the Bulldogs due to a season-ending injury, Roberts was predicted to be one of the top players for Drake this past season. The sophomore was a former four-star recruit for Drake coming in and was looking to be a part of the team that went to the NCAA Tournament and lost in the first round.
The Illinois native formally played for the Army Black Knights while averaging 12.4 points, 4.4 rebounds, and 1.2 assists per game. He shot 47.6% from the field and 40.7% from beyond the arc during his freshman campaign. While playing for the Black Knights, he scored a career-high against Bucknell with 32 total points and was honored as the Patriot League Rookie of the Year.
Roberts is expected to make a major impact this upcoming season for Penn, a team that went 11-18 this past season and just 3-11 in conference play. The sophomore’s height and agility will help the Quakers this upcoming season if he comes off of the injury well. College basketball should watch out for what he can do this upcoming season.
