(Iowa City, IA) – With the transfer portal continuing to lead college basketball in a new direction, Iowa women’s basketball is also forced to go in another direction without Caitlin Clark. That is why they’ve announced that former Villanova point guard, Lucy Olsen, will join the Hawkeyes for the 2024-25 season.
Olsen was one of the top three players in the country in scoring, sitting behind both Caitlin Clark and JuJu Watkins in scoring in the NCAA. She averaged 23.3 points, 4.8 rebounds, and 3.8 assists per game this past season for Villanova. The guard also was named the most improved player in the Big East Conference and was named to first-team All-Big East.
While she will not be a direct replacement for Caitlin Clark, she will be just one of the top pieces for Iowa to build on this upcoming season.
She was a main target this season for a multitude of teams, including Tennessee, LSU, Maryland, and North Carolina
