She was born the daughter of Kenneth and Denise (Dorsey) King on September 18,1934 in rural Anita. She had a very strong faith in the Lord, and this started early as a little girl. She would walk to town herself to go the Sunday School and Church on her own. She had many accomplishments in high school. Jannes was gifted with musical talent and loved to play the piano and sing. She was involved in everything that had to do with music. Jannes had the honor of being Anita’s very first homecoming queen in 1950. Being an exceptional student at the top of her class, led her to receive a full ride scholarship to Drake University in Des Moines where she would major in music.
However, after attending Drake for one year, she decided to marry her high school sweetheart Neil Aupperle. On September 13, 1953, they were united in marriage at the United Methodist Church in Anita, IA. The Aupperles were married 70 years last September. Jannes started giving piano lessons in her home in Anita for over 40 years. She taught hundreds of students. She also was Choir Director and Sunday School Music Director for many years.
She was initiated into the PEO chapter EZ sisterhood in 1964 and was always proud to be a sister. God and her faith were the most important part of her life. She was a very unselfish woman, who put everyone first and herself last. One of her biggest joys was her two grandchildren.
