(Indianola) Two former area girl’s high school basketball players earned high honors this week.
Former Atlantic Standout Haley Rasmussen (top photo) of Simpson College was named to the American Rivers Conference first team. The junior averaged 12.3 points per game, good enough for ninth-best in the conference this season. Additionally, she averaged 1.5 steals per game. This is the second time for Rasmussen. She was a second-team all-conference selection one year ago.
Kailey Jones, former AHSTW Star, played in all 26 games for the Norse while starting in 12. She led the team, scoring 312 points for an average of 12.0 per game. She shot 45.8 percent from the floor, 25 from the arc, and 86.3 at the line. She ranked first on the team in rebounds with 257 total for an average of 9.9 per game. She is now third all-time in career rebounds with 799. Additionally, Jones recorded 25 steals, 21 assists and 11 blocks.
