(Anita, IA) – Class 1A State wrestling continues tonight as CAM’s Owen Hoover continues to move on through the brackets after his 15-0 win by tech fall yesterday. Head Coach Derek Knisley talked about how Hoover is seeded at #10 at weight class 175 but has a chance to continue to upset a few wrestlers, especially with how he wrestled yesterday.
CAM had two state qualifiers as Tristen Becker lost by fall in the consolations yesterday in weight class 132. While falling in consolations, he had a very impressive run to state and was the first in his family to compete in Des Moines.
While there were a few wrestlers who didn’t make it past districts last Saturday, their motivation, hard work, and dedication to CAM wrestling have helped the state qualifiers push further in their brackets.
The State tournament is all about who wants to continue moving forward. While this is some of the toughest competition in the state, CAM has a chance to make a dent in the brackets with Owen Hoover leading along the way.
CAM will resume back-to-state action tonight at 6:00 p.m. We will have all the audio action right on our website at Western Iowa Today’s Audio stream with Austin West on the call.
