(Anita, IA) – With eight consecutive wins for the CAM Cougars, they may as well be called the CAM Victors as they continue to come out on top of teams as of late. That is due to their aggressive defense and offense that has helped to achieve this level of success.
In last week’s IGHSAU rankings, the Cougars were ranked#9 overall, continuing their spot from the week prior. Head Coach Joe Wollum said that this ranking doesn’t mean as much to him but rather wants his girls to focus on what’s ahead.
The CAM Cougars are led in scoring by four seniors, Eva Steffensen, Kiera Nichols, Meredith Rich, and Carley Dennis, who have all not only impacted this season but also the future of CAM basketball.
On Tuesday, the Cougars are looking to take on the #10 Woodbine Tigers in a rematch from earlier this season. Last time out, CAM won 49-41 which helped to lead them on their winning streak. If they can stop Woodbine’s leading scorer, Charlie Pryor who averages 18.8 points and 5.5 assists per game, then the outcome will be similar.
With the postponement of Monday’s game against ACGC due to the bitter cold, the Cougars have not had a lot of time to practice out on the floor or even play in games. This has not only affected CAM but all teams across the state of Iowa.
CAM will return to action tomorrow at home when they take on Woodbine. KSOM 96.5 will have a video-only broadcast on Western Iowa Today TV of the game with Zach Collins and Austin West on the call, with the pregame show at 5:40 p.m.
