(Manhattan, KS) – It was a winter wonderland in Kansas, but not for Wildcat fans as the Cyclones secured a 42-35 win. The Cyclone’s defense, one of which has been ranked in the top ten nationwide in multiple categories, came in late to help secure the win.
Iowa State’s touchdowns didn’t come as they typically have all season in the short pass and rush game, but rather their shortest passing touchdown was 33 yards in the game on a pass to Jayden Higgins as that was just one of two touchdowns for the junior. Higgins had a total of 160 receiving yards in the game. Rocco Becht had an impressive night as he went 8-12 for 230 total yards and three touchdowns. He had an 82-yard pass to Jaylin Noel that helped to give Iowa State a lead late in the game.
The offense did not only look the best that they had all season but running back Abu Sama III had the best night of his life. He rushed for a total of 276 yards and three touchdowns. His running yards were the most ever in a road game in school history while also the most ever by a freshman in Cyclone history.
In the victory for Iowa State, Kansas State gave the game to the Cyclones on a silver platter. Will Howard passed his only interception by Gerry Vaughn late in the game for Iowa State to be able to take the win overall. He passed for 288 yards and a touchdown. The leading receiver was Ben Sinnott as he had 136 yards receiving for 10 catches.
This was not the game for kickers on either side, as the snow continued to pile up and the field crews had to plow out the yard markers on the field. There were multiple kicks that were biffed by both teams as Iowa State had no field goals while Kansas State knocked in two tight field goals, both of which were under 30 yards.
Iowa State is giddy to play again as they await for their bowl announcement to be made on December 3rd. Be sure to check right back here to see who Iowa State will draw in a bowl game.
