(Oakland, IA) – With volleyball season over, let’s look at the Riverside Bulldogs after they finished their season in the Regional Championship game to Ankeny Christian. Regardless of that loss, the Bulldogs finished 27-11 overall and played a very competitive season to the top of their level.
Coach Brooke Flathers has continued to help build up this program and watch her girls always get better. In the game against Ankeny Christian, the Bulldogs never backed down, especially Elyssa Amdor who played one of her best matches all season as she was helping to keep her team in the game on every point.
The Bulldogs featured three front-row hitters who had over 200 kills this season which included Elly Henderson, Bentley Rone, and Elyssa Amdor. That was all with the help of junior setter Ayla Richardson who had 636 assists this year.
Riverside is losing both Carly Henderson and Elyssa Amdor due to them graduating after this season. Carly finished the season with the team-leading 381 digs and Elyssa finished with 206 kills, nine blocks, and 20 aces. Coach Flathers has seen these girls from the middle school level all the way to their final seasons.
