(Lincoln, NE)- Four players from Nebraska softball were honored by the Big Ten with all-conference awards as well as other season awards. Senior Billie Andrews would earn the All-Big Ten distinction for the fourth year in a row as she was named All-Big Ten First Team for the 2024 season. She is one of two players in program history to have earned All-Big Ten four times as well as the second to be All-Big Ten First Team three times in her career.
Senior Sydney Gray was announced as All-Big Ten Second Team for the first all-conference award of her career. During the season, Gray also earned three Big Ten Player of the Week awards, tying the conference record for most in a season.
Nebraska’s freshman Samantha Bland also earned all-conference for her performance this season as she was named to the Big Ten All-Freshman team. The versatile freshman started games in left and center field plus shortstop and second base this season.
Finally, junior captain Mckinley Malecha was awarded the Big Ten Sportsmanship award for the Huskers after playing in 28 games this season and starting four. Earlier this year, Malecha was also named to Nebraska’s 2024 Tom Osborne Citizenship Team.
