(Iowa City, IA)- The Hawkeyes add to their quarterback room on Wednesday with the commitment of Northwestern’s Brendan Sullivan. The former Wildcat quarterback entered the transfer portal back on April 23rd after being the projected starter for 2024. After a visit with Iowa on Wednesday, Sullivan announced his commitment with two years of eligibility remaining.
Sullivan has started four games in each of the last two years for the Wildcats after losing the starting job prior to the 2023 season. He’d get four starts last year after QB Ben Bryant went down with injury in late September. In those four starts, Northwestern was 2-2 with wins over Howard and Maryland and losses to Iowa and Nebraska. Sullivan completed 63.6 percent of passes with 714 yards, five touchdowns, and two interceptions last season plus 38 yards on the ground with a rushing score.
He’ll join a Hawkeye quarterback room of Cade McNamara, who is still recovering from last year’s season ending injury, and Marco Lainez, the redshirt freshman with seven career college passes.
