(Avoca, IA) – The AHSTW Vikings cross-country team had a more than successful season as the girl’s team earned a spot in the State meet. One runner that stands out is two-time state qualifier Rylie Knop as she finished in 111th at 22:24.1. Another runner that also stood out for the Vikings was Ella Langer in 143rd in the state meet. They may not have finished where they wanted to in the state meet but were able to go to Fort Dodge and compete, something that head coach Jackson Renberg is more than proud of his athletes to be able to do.
On the boy’s side, senior Caleb Hatch ran a very successful season overall, as he featured an 18:28.0 time overall this season. AHSTW also features Caden Geraghty who has been dealing with a few issues in his running, but continued to work through all season.
Looking ahead for AHSTW, they are returning five different runners including Bella Lamp who was the top runner in the State meet for AHSTW and finished in 84th at 21:29.0. Ava Paulsen also returns for the Vikings as she finished 100th in the State meet at 21:56.3 as coach Renberg looks for her to improve even more down the line. Makena Petersen also has continued to make great strides in her cross-country career as she finished 154th overall in the State meet, but also featured some tough finishes last season.
Head coach Jackson Renberg was more than proud of his athletes for all of their accomplishments this season and cannot wait to see what more they can accomplish next season.
