(Anita) CAM heads into the round of sixteen with an undefeated record and a matchup against West Bend-Mallard on Friday night. The Cougars advanced with an impressive offensive performance in their first-round victory over Southeast Warren 75-12.
CAM Head Coach Barry Bower says the offense was efficient and did an excellent job in certain situations, whether it be running or passing the football. The Cougars piled up 427 total yards of offense. Quarterback Chase Spieker completed 10-13 passes for 209 yards four touchdowns, and rushed for another 91 yards and three touchdowns.
CAM’s defense is equally impressive, outscoring the opposition on average 56-12. Coach Bower says defense has always been their mantra for the past six or seven years.
The Wolverines bring a solid running attack to the game on Friday night. The eight-player district 2 runner-up has rushed for 2,615 yards and passed for 829.
Landon Montag, the quarterback, has 1,346 rushing yards and 792 passing.
Cole Fehr is the second-leading rusher in the squad with 823 yards. The leading tackler is Logan Grimm, a linebacker with 74.5 tackles, 52 solo stops, two sacks, and nine tackles for loss.
CAM brings a more balanced attack to the contest with 1,943 yards rushing and 1,204 passing. A handful of Cougar defensemen lead the team in tackles. Owen Hoover, 46.5, Kegan Croghan, 45.5, Brayden Chester, 43.0, and Austin Williams have 41.5 tackles.
