(Denison) Starting Friday, the Iowa State Patrol will conduct another statewide Highway 30 focus project.
Iowa State Patrol Trooper and District #4 Public Information Officer Shelby McCreedy says this project involves local law enforcement and Post #4 in western Iowa, Post #1 in the central part of the state, and Posts #11 and #12 in eastern Iowa. She says this is a collaborative effort amongst law enforcement agencies to attempt to reverse the driving behaviors that lead to fatal crashes along the Highway 30 corridor.
McCreedy says Highway 30 has always carried a large volume of traffic, and in some areas where it is four-lane versus two-lane, the speed limit is increased, leading to many collisions. Trooper McCreedy says they call the Highway 30 corridor a secondary Interstate, based on traffic volume alone leads to increases in the likelihood of fatal crashes.
